About Creative Construction Consulting — Knoxville & Seymour General Contractor
A small team of craftsmen working out of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Creative Construction is built on the foundation that every project tells a story — whether it's a kitchen remodel you've daydreamed about, an outdoor living space that allows you to gather with family and friends, or a new build, our team treats every person as if they were family. Our team shares a combined experience of over 100 years mastering our trade.
Every project starts with a conversation, not a quote. We listen, advise, design, build, and guide you from beginning to end. Our goal is to offer transparency throughout the process and to see your vision come to life.
John Knight
My journey in construction began immediately after high school, where I had the privilege of learning from exceptional craftsmen who instilled in me the values that still guide my work today: steadfast integrity, quality workmanship, and an unwavering attention to detail.
Over the past 40 years, I have worked in nearly every facet of the construction industry — from large-scale civil engineering projects to plumbing systems, commercial construction, and residential building. Each experience added to my knowledge, sharpened my skills, and taught me valuable lessons — not only about how to build, but also about how clients deserve to be treated.
In my thirties, I took a leap of faith and started my own company. Armed with little more than a truck, a trailer, and a one-person crew, I set out to create something of my own. Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, that small operation grew into a multi-million-dollar business managing several projects at once.
While the business was successful by traditional measures, I eventually realized that growth had come at a cost: I had lost some of the personal connection that first inspired me to build, and my family felt the impact of my constant absence. That experience taught me an important lesson — bigger isn't always better.
Today, my focus is different. I've chosen quality over quantity, relationships over volume, and craftsmanship over acquisition. I believe it is an honor to be invited into someone's home and trusted with their vision. Whether it's a renovation, a custom build, or a dream project years in the making, I value the opportunity to walk alongside my clients through every step of the creative process.
I've seen too many homeowners left disappointed by contractors who prioritize profit over quality and service. My goal is simple: deliver exceptional work, provide honest communication, and build lasting relationships. I want to be the kind of contractor who can run into past clients at the grocery store, shake their hand with pride, and trust they're still happy with the work we did together.
Construction is more than a business to me — it's a craft, a partnership, and an opportunity to create meaningful spaces for families to live well, gather often, and cherish forever.
